How to use the DRAFT TOP

1. OPEN THE HANDLE (POP)
   Press the top right hand corner of the tool. You can also pull out the bottom of the handle on the bottom right hand side of the tool. You should feel the handle click into place when it is all the way out.

Tip: If the tool is not properly cleaned it will become difficult to open the handle.

2. POSITION THE TOOL ON CAN
   Place the tool flat on the can, ensuring that none of the blades are resting on the can tab. Gently press the tool down and lightly squeeze the handle to grab the can. By squeezing you should be able to pick the can up with just the tool.

3. GRAB THE CAN (GRIP)
   While holding the tool with one hand, use the other hand to grab the can by either gripping towards the top or bottom where it is most rigid.

Tip: Although not required, if you open the can first, the pressure release will provide feedback on where there is structure to hold.

4. SQUEEZE HANDLE AND ROTATE CAN (TWIST)
   Squeeze the handle until you feel it start to flex. Maintain a consistent squeezing force and begin to rotate the can. Don't muscle it! It does not take as much squeezing force as you think and you should be able to easily rotate the can.

Tip: If you are having trouble rotating the can or if it starts to crush, check that you are grabbing the can in the correct place and that you are not squeezing the handle too hard.

5. CONTINUE ROTATING CAN
   Rotate the can at least one half turn until you hear a series of Cracks and then a Pop (Watch the video above). Those noises indicate the top has been cut.

Tip: There are two styles of can tops on the market: "Straight" and "Bevel" Walled. "Bevel" walled cans are the most common and only require at least on half turn. "Straight" walled cans are less common, but are slightly more difficult to open. We've found that rotating the can back and forth a quarter turn 2-3 times then doing a full rotation does trick.

6. PUSH IN LID (PUSH)
   To remove the tool, open the handle all the way (See Step 1) so the blades aren't grabbing the can. Rest one of the notches in the handle on the rim of the can and slowly rock in the lid. The lid can then be left attached or removed entirely.

Tip: When rocking the lid in, find the weakest part. If it does not easily push in then you likely did not rotate the can enough to cut the top. Repeat Step 5 to fully cut the top.
